Rare Disease Day is a grassroots effort. You can help make it happen by doing things to raise awareness and help others to understand the issues. This is a day for every member of the rare disease community — patients, caregivers, and those seeking to develop new and better treatments — to join together on behalf of our common goals.
You can get involved in any or all of the following activities for Rare Disease Day 2010:
- Help us create a database of physicians who are experts on rare diseases.
- Nominate your favorite researcher to the Rare Disease Day Hall of Fame.
- Share information with your media contacts. NORD will provide a media kit for all 2010 Rare Disease Day Partners and Friends.
- Companies can host events for their employees, such as Lunch & Learns. Invite patients to come and tell their stories.
- Ask your governor to proclaim February 28, 2010 Rare Disease Day in your state. Use the sample proclamation and governor’s letter NORD has provided.
- Share information about Rare Disease Day with your contacts on Facebook, Twitter, and other online sites.
Make sure NORD knows about your activities and events so that we can publicize them here and in our e-blasts to Partners — Tell us what you’re doing!
