One of the aims of Rare Disease Day is to help everyone understand what it’s like to have a rare disease.
Rare Disease Day is a great opportunity to connect with others in the rare disease community both within the United States and throughout the world. We encourage everyone to sign up for social media sites both for Rare Disease Day US and the global Rare Disease Day initiatives.
This year we want to highlight the Rare Disease Community in the US through two specific projects Visions of Solidarity and Hands across America.
We are asking individuals to take an appropriate picture holding the Rare Disease Day flyer anywhere in the US. We are displaying these pictures in the Handprints across America Gallery.
We are inviting people to express their thoughts on this year’s international Rare Disease Day theme, “Solidarity” and think about what Rare but strong together means to them, in a drawing, picture, computer graphic or short story. Read more about the Visions of Solidarity Project or view the gallery here.
